In recognition and celebration of the 100th anniversary of the African National Congress
(ANC), Roosevelt University hosted a special event featuring a panel discussion with
esteemed Roosevelt alumnus and retired Columbia University professor of political
science, Dr. Charles V. Hamilton (BA, '51), Chairman of the ANC Chicago-Midwest Centenary
Coordinating Committee, Dr. Harold Rogers, and Roosevelt Professor of Sociology and
Director of the Mansfield Institute for Social Justice and Transformation, Dr. Heather
Dalmage.
These three scholars discussed the history of the ANC, its long struggle against
racism and oppression under the system of apartheid, and contemporary issues within
the new democracy.
