The South African Consulate General in Chicago represents the Government of the Republic of South Africa in the Great Lakes Region of the United States of America. The Mission is responsible for consolidating the relationship between the fourteen (14) States in the Midwest and the South African Government. The focus of our mandate includes improving the existing socio-economic relations between the Midwest and South Africa through business and socio-political issues. Since the dawn of democracy in South Africa more than a decade ago, the South African Consulate General in Chicago has been responsible for the promotion of the “new South Africa” in the Region. We endeavour to promote South Africa as an Investment and Tourism destination. We highlight some of the outstanding characteristics of the Country across all sectors, namely, Trade and Investment, Education, Arts and Culture, Tourism and People to People co-operation. We are proud to be hosting the next Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Soccer World Cup spectacle in our country from 11 June to 11 July 2010. South Africa ‘alive with possibility!’
